Programming for FY25
The Early Childhood Coalition of the Illinois Quad City Area is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community by identifying needs and developing resources that enhance services for young children and their families. Through initiatives like the Mentor/Mentee Program, Pyramid Model trainings and Communities of Practice, we strive to provide valuable support and guidance to those who nurture our youngest learners. Together, we create a brighter future for children and families in our region.
Mentorship plays a vital role in early childhood education by providing support for educators and enhancing their professional journey. When experienced teachers guide newcomers, it leads to higher retention rates in educational centers, increased workplace satisfaction, and improved classroom management. Mentors share valuable insights and strategies that contribute to the professional development of their mentees, helping them feel more confident and capable in their roles. This supportive atmosphere not only benefits the educators but also creates a positive learning environment for young children, making mentorship an essential component of effective early childhood education.
Reflective teaching is an ongoing process that involves observing, documenting, reflecting, and planning. This professional development workbook is a valuable resource for early childhood educators, whether for individual use or in group settings, covering various topics related to reflective teaching.
The workbook includes ten study sessions featuring guided activities and a comprehensive explanation of the reflective teaching model. These resources are designed to help educators develop creative, critical, and thoughtful teaching skills.
This workbook is accessible and welcoming for all early childhood educators, including entry-level teachers, experienced practitioners, child care center directors, teacher educators, and college students studying early childhood education. Its straightforward approach ensures that users can easily understand and apply the concepts presented.
